Miller, Mark
Submitter: Mark Miller - Sage Intacct Sr Technical Solutions Architect, Partner Enablement Business Need: Dimension relationships can significantly streamline data entry by automatically filling in related values between dimensions. This automation not only speeds up the process but also helps reduce data entry errors. Although setting this up requires some initial planning and execution, it ensures that dimension values align with your company’s structure. Currently, custom reports in Intacct have limitations: they can only display dimension relationships where the related value is on the "one" side of the relationship. For many-to-many relationships, no reports can be created to show this data. The only alternative is to use the API, which can provide this information but requires developer involvement and potentially incurs additional costs. To address this, I have developed a platform application that generates a report using the available API calls. This application comes as a package file that can be installed into any company’s system. When you access the report, you’ll be able to choose from a list of objects to report on. Simply select an object and click 'Generate Report' to view and export the data. Be sure to review the 'About' page for important disclaimers before use. Pre-Requisite: Ensure that Platform Services are enabled for your account. Tool Limitations: If reporting at the top level, you are unable to view lower entity level relationships unless you slide into that entity FAQ's: What does 'Un-restricted' mean? This indicates that the record being reported on has the potential for related records, though currently, none are associated with it. Why can't I see dimension relationship data for records at the entity level? Due to how the Sage Intacct API reports relationship data, only data for the current entity level and the top level (if at the entity level) can be viewed. To report data at the entity level, navigate to that entity and run the report, choosing to include top level records if desired. Why does the report sometimes take a long time to run? Generating comprehensive relationship records can be resource-intensive, especially with options like 'Show Un-restricted records'. Factors such as record volume and related records per entry can also affect processing time. Please allow the process to complete without navigating away from the page. If timeouts persist, consider alternative solutions. Installation Steps: Login to Sage Intacct. Navigate to Platform Services > Applications > Install From XML. Browse for the package file provided here and click Install. Navigate to newly created Dimension Relation Report menu Usage Steps: Login to Sage Intacct. Navigate to Dimension Relationship Report->Dimension Relationship Report Choose an object to report on Only objects that have a dimension relationship will show up in this list Click 'Generate Report' Dimension_Relationship_Report_v1.xml
