Custom data type - used in a Sql Requester parameter.

Hi X3 developers, I'm new to X3 development,  is it possible to create a custom data type, based on the CCE dimension data type, which will auto filter and allow only a certain type of dimension to be displayed when used as a drop-down on a sql requester parameter? Any guidance  / example would be greatly appreciated!
