Is it possible to have a custom field within sales order that is populating the shipping weight from item?

Yes, I would think you could modify this example to consolidate the total shipping weight of all of the items in the OE header.

Would this example work with getting the items shipping_weight field within the items object?  Which that value would go into the sales order custom field.
