Brijesh Kumar Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 We are a B2B software company for SMB market, and have received many client requests to integrate with Sage50. We have our software integrated with QuickBooks for many years. We can't figure a way to integrate Sage50. How do we get any SDK? Are there any Sand Box or demo version of software available to test from Sage? Any help will be appreciated.
Steel, Mark Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 Hi Brijesh, Thank you for your post. There are different SDK's and teams supporting SDK's for Sage 50 depending on which region you are wishing to integrate with. Each SDK is accessed through a membership to the Developer Program for the required region. For the UK you can contact [email protected] for further information and pricing. For the US and CA versions of Sage 50 our colleagues at [email protected] will be able to guide you. Thanks Mark
Brijesh Kumar Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 We are interested in integrating with Sage US/ Canada to begin with. I mailed them but no response. Looks like that email is unmanned or being handled by someone who only works once a month :-). No idea why integration with Sage is so complex, convoluted and cumbersome for other businesses? Too many hurdles and complications. On the hand, integrating with just about any other accounting software including with Industry Heavyweight QuickBooks is so simple and straight forward. B. Brijesh Kumar Posted December 14, 2023 Author Posted December 14, 2023 Attempt to communicate with Sage developer team has been a total disaster. Looks like no one cares and no one responds. I had a dozen+ customers using Sage, and we had to convince then to move to QuickBooks.
Steel, Mark Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 Hi Brijesh, Were you unable to obtain a response from [email protected]? Thanks Mark
Reginald Jackson Posted December 15, 2023 Posted December 15, 2023 The Sage50 SDK requires you to sign up to what is, in my opinion, an overly-expensive developer subscription....
Adrienne Paton Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 I have to agree with Brijesh that the Sage integration information is definitely lacking. Our company uses Sage 300, to which we wish to export data. We also have customers using Sage 50 that we want to integrate with. I have found API and SDK technical documentation, but no details on how to actually access it, develop with it, or test. There are mentions of a developer program, but I couldn't find any specific information on how to join and what benefits joining gives you, or the cost. There is an email contact listed online (https://developer.sage.com/300/guides/getting-started/) but when I email the contact person on the website ([email protected]), the email is undeliverable. Instead of having to email individuals, why is there not clear easily found information on the website, and perhaps an online application form? Why is it so difficult to find the information on integration? This is immensely frustrating and time consuming.
Haddon, Tim Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 To inquire about developing with the Sage 50 product line please select the "Become a partner" at https://www.sage.com/en-us/partners/. Make sure to choose "ISV" as the partner type and "Sage 50" for the product line and it will get routed to the correct team to reply. Thanks

Hi Adrienne, Thank you for highlighting an issue with the Sage 300 Getting Started section, I have raised this with the relevant team and they will be looking to address this page. In the meantime, please email [email protected] and they will be able to send all relevant information on the developer programme.
Brijesh Kumar Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 Even after dealing with Sage for the last many years on the development, API and integration issues, we are not any better off. We have sent dozens of emails to [email protected] over the years, but we never saw any real response or only got a practically useless "canned" cut-paste response asking to read some sage web page. So, practically useless to even send mail there unless things have improved in 2024!! With multiple confusing products, APIs, confusing SDKs, and complex requirements to join partner networks, with no sand box documentation or availability, Sage software is actually a total disaster for software developers. Look at QuickBooks, Xero, Netsuite, Oracle or Freskdesk or dozen's of software- so easy to integrate with their APIs, great documentation and integration testing support, but not with Sage. From developer perspective, Sage is kind of totally messed up. Brijesh Kumar, Ph,D. CTO, Field Force Tracker
Reginald Jackson Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 I always found the documentation for the SDK to be pretty good, actually, but I was absolutely disgusted when, with little warning, Sage suddenly imposed massive price increases on developers. I had to stop being a developer and instead chose some middleware to handle the postings from my application into Sage50c. As far as I can tell, their other products offer free access to the apis. The documentation on these can be a little sketchy, but there is help from the forum, and I find that works ok. My personal opinion has for some time been that, at some stage, Sage will discontinue the desktop 50c product, and their website/documentation/support/pricing etc is now structured to direct people to one of their online offerings. For my part, any new software I develop will not even offer integration with 50c. Reg Jackson SolutionJ
Sébastien Bouchard Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Hello everyone, I've been trying to put my hand on the URL of our database to connect our SQL server to our raw data for the past 2 months (we want to build a PowerBI with the SAGE data). I feel like I'm in the crazy house of Asterix where everyone is sending me somewhere else, my account manager is not responding and the 2 following emails are not responding ([email protected] and [email protected]). Can anyone help me with this? Thank you for your help, Sébastien
Steel, Mark Posted Friday at 08:50 AM Posted Friday at 08:50 AM Hi @Sébastien Bouchard, Thank you for your post. The Sage product group is vast and can be challenging to navigate. The Sage 50 Developer Tools (SDK's, API's etc) are available via different developer programs depending upon where you are in the world. If you can confirm which country you are using Sage 50 in we can route you correctly. From your mention of SQL Server it sounds as if you are using Sage 50 in the US. If you are using the US version you'll need to select the "Become a partner" option at https://www.sage.com/en-us/partners/. Make sure to choose "Tech Partner" as the partner type and "Sage 50" for the product line and it will get routed to the correct team. If you are wanting to connect to the data without the use of supported developer tools the community hub may provide more information as the developer community is intended to support integrators using available SDK's and API's. https://communityhub.sage.com/global-resources?GroupId=4&Country=United States&ProductId=29 Thanks Mark
